Things You'll Need
Instructions
Create a budget for the materials and equipment you need in your digital studio. Digital studios tend to have backdrops, stands, lighting system, camera, tripod and computer to view your digital images on after they have been taken. Research the cost of these items both new and on the used market. Often you are able to buy high quality equipment that is a year or two old for considerably less than buying the same equipment brand new.
Map out the size of the studio you need to photograph subjects and set up any props. You also need to have a client area with a table and computer nearby. You also might want a changing area if you plan to shoot subjects in multiple costumes or outfits.
Create your own light using studio strobes or other light sources. You can use simple household lamps with directional heads as your light source with digital cameras. Set your camera white balance to match the light temperature for your lights so your images show a balance of light and color.
Buy the materials and equipment for your digital studio. Paint the walls a neutral color, install a neutral color flooring either carpet or hard surface. Install your background stand and backdrops. Assemble your studio lights and stands and position them in your studio.
Install the computer and digital camera. Choose a wireless transmitter or tether the camera to the computer with an USB cable that carries the images from the camera to the computer for viewing.
