Graduation Portrait Ideas

Each spring, high school seniors and their parents start to think about graduation and the upcoming graduation portrait shoot. Graduating high school is one of those milestone achievements and should be remembered in pictures. During four years of high school you have made friends, perhaps competed in sports or other events. These accomplishments could also be celebrated in auxiliary photos, in addition to the traditional portrait featuring just the graduate.
  1. Formal Pose

    • A good formal picture of the graduate wearing the traditional cap and gown is always a good choice to start with. This picture, above others, lets others who view it know exactly the purpose of the photo. Other formal poses can include the graduate in a suit or elegant dress.

    Sports Accomplishments

    • If you were active in sports during your high school career, a picture with sporting equipment or any trophies you may have won is another good graduation portrait to have shot. This can be a picture on the field, or in the gym.

    With Boyfriend/Girlfriend

    • Another option for your graduation picture is to have one of the poses shot with your boyfriend or girlfriend. Years down the road it can be a good picture to reflect on, particularly if the people in the picture continue to date, get married and have a family together.

    Awards, Friends and Teachers

    • High school is as much about the friendships you make with other students and teachers. A pose adding in these people who were important to you during your high school is another good way to remember high school in years to come. If you won any academic or other awards, have these included in the picture, as well.
