How to Make Photo Statues

Photo statues are an entertaining way to add life to your photos. One stop at your local craft store will let you get all you need for the project. This is a craft to do with kids or to take on as a hobby yourself. Photo statues can be given out to family and friends and can be positioned around the house on anything that has a flat surface.

Things You'll Need

Large photograph
Pencil
Foam board
Scissors
Craft glue
Utility knife

Instructions

  Find a large photograph of a friend, family member, yourself or anyone else. A regular-sized photograph, such as a 4x6, will work, but a bigger photo is ideal. The bigger the photo is, the easier it will be to see and the more entertaining it will be to guests and anyone in your home.

  Cut around the edges of the person in the photo. The finished photo will look better if the subject is cut out as neatly as possible. Cut out all background from the photo as well, even if you have to cut in between someone's legs to do so.

  Situate the photo on foam board and lightly sketch its outline. Do not outline the bottom of the photo. You will need a straight edge to be able to attach the photo to the stand. Remove the photo, and use scissors to cut the outline from the foam board. Using craft glue, glue the photo onto the foam board. Trim any visible edges of foam board with a utility knife.

  Cut out two rectangles of core board to make a stand for the photo. Make a slit in one side of each of the rectangles and make two slits equal distances apart in the photo. Slide the rectangles into each slit. The photo should now be able to stand on its own.
