Things You'll Need
Instructions
Plug the strobe into your camera's flash sync socket via the long cord that comes with the strobe. If you prefer to operate your strobe without plugging it into your camera, plug an optical slave into the strobe's power pack. You can use the built-in flash on your camera to set off the strobe.
Set the exposure on your camera to manual. The lighting will not change between shots because the lights and camera are mounted. Studio strobes will only operate on manual exposure.
Set your camera to the fastest sync speed that gives you a full exposure. If you want the ambient light in the room to be included in the shot, you can use a slower sync speed to achieve this effect.
Set up any additional equipment including umbrellas, softboxes or snoots. These accessories are designed to help the photographer control the light from the strobe.
Take the photograph and use trial and error until you get the best shot. The camera will automatically trigger your strobe light when it takes the photo. Adjust the exposure and sync settings as required to get the best shot.
