How to Mount Old Brass Lenses on a Shutter

You can find a brass lens on many old shutter cameras. These cameras were generally much larger and more difficult to use than the typical digital ones of today, so it's no surprise that the lens is hard to find and affix. A brass lens can be up to a couple of inches long, so attaching it to your old shutter camera requires some preparation before it can be properly mounted.

Things You'll Need

  • Flat-head screwdriver
  • Lens flange

Instructions

    • 1

Remove the shutter lens and its flange from the camera with the flat-head screwdriver. The flange is located on the front of the lens board, and the shutter lens will come out once the flange does.

    • 2

Mount the brass lens to the lens board by screwing the lens flange through the lens hole and back into the lens board with the screwdriver.

    • 3

Test the brass lens' strength and functionality by twisting it with your hand. Tighten the flange, if necessary, with the screwdriver to finish attaching it to your shutter camera.
