How to Make Your Photo Look Like Crinkled Paper

There are a number of photo editing programs where you can easily edit photos for exposure, cropping and other small adjustments. When you want to be more creative and add different effects or looks, like making your picture look like crinkled paper, you will need a program that has those options or tools. Adobe Photoshop, GIMP and Paint.NET have the tools and filters that will allow you to add these effects to your photos. Both GIMP and Paint.NET are available for free.

Instructions

  Open Adobe Photoshop or the free version of GIMP or Paint.NET (see Resources).

  Click "File" in the navigation bar and select from the drop-down menu "Get photo." The wording will be slightly different in each program, but the steps are the same.

  Click the folder and the image you want to edit with the program. Click the "OK" tab in the bottom right of the window, which will open the picture in the software.

  Click on "Filter" in the navigation bar and select "Filter" from the menu. Select "Craquelure" blur from the drop-down menu. Adjust the sliders for "Crack Spacing," Crack Depth" and "Crack Brightness" to achieve the look you want for your pictures. When you are satisfied with the results, click "OK" to add the effect to your photo.

  Click "File" and select "Save as." Give your new photo a different name from the original and save it to your computer's hard drive.
