How to Remove Photos From Adhesive Albums

Before digital cameras and online photo sharing, families would place their pictures into photo albums. The pages in these albums were coated with an adhesive that would hold the picture in place. Once the pictures were placed on the album pages, a plastic film covered the pictures and pages protecting them from dust, dirt and debris. If you want to remove the pictures from the pages to make room for new ones, you need to be careful in removing them so you don't damage or destroy the pictures.

Instructions

    • 1

Lift up one of the corners of the plastic sheet that is covering the pictures and peel it all the way back so you can access all the edges of the photograph.

    • 2

Pry up one corner of the picture you want to remove using a small utility knife blade. Use care when you are doing this, you do not want to risk cutting the picture, but you need a thin blade to get under the picture.

    • 3

Carefully lift up the corner of the picture using your fingers. If the picture lifts off of the page easily, then continue to peel the picture back until it comes off of the page. Take care to not bend or curl the photo. If the picture doesn't lift off easily, then move to the next step.

    • 4

Cut a piece of thread or non-waxed floss that is long enough to go under the entire width of picture.

    • 5

Move the thread or floss under the picture starting in the corner you peel up and move across the entire length of the picture. Lift the picture up off the page and repeat these steps for other pictures in the album.
