How to Print Notecards From a Photograph

In today's world of email, texting and instant messaging, receiving a note card from someone can be a nice break from the electronic communication. If those note cards includes your personal photography, whether of family or just one of your favorite pictures, that can be a nice personal touch. With digital technology and all of the photo-editing program options, creating these cards is very easy to do.

      Open your photo-editing program. If you don't have one, there a number available online either free of for purchase. Gimp and Paint.net are a couple of free ones, and Adobe Photoshop is a program for purchase.

      Click "File," select "New" and choose a size and background color for your card.

      Select from the "borders" and "shapes" in the right margin different elements to customize your card the way you want.

      Click "File" and select "Place" from the navigation bar and select the photo you want to use in your card. The card's layout -- whether folded or single page -- will dictate how you use the photo.

      Click the "T" in the left margin to add text to your card. Position your mouse cursor in the card and where you want your text to appear. You can alter the font style and size from the selection boxes in the top of the window.

      Click "File" and select "Save as" to save your card. Load the type of paper you want -- card stock, usually -- into your printer.

      Click "File" and select "Print preview" to see if the card looks as you want it to. Decide how many copies you want to make and press "Print."
