How to Scan 110 Film to a CD

Before the advent of digital technology and its impact on photography, camera and film manufacturers worked together to create a variety of film sizes and formats. The 110 mm film size was designed for use with compact cameras. These small negatives had the same aspect ratio as 135 mm film, but were considerably smaller. If you have a number of 110 mm negatives still intact, you can scan and save them to a CD for storage.

Instructions

    • 1

Turn your computer and film scanner on. Open the scanner software on your computer and create a new folder where the scanned images will be saved.

    • 2

Prepare the negatives for scanning by cleaning the first strip using an anti-static cloth. It is best to clean one strip at a time just before you scan the negative strip. These specially treated cloths are designed to remove dust from the negative and will help to prevent dust from collecting on the negative during the scanning process.

    • 3

Place the 110 mm negative into the proper carrier and insert the carrier tray into the scanner. Click the "Scan" button. Repeat this process until all the negatives have been scanned into the folder you created.

    • 4

Place an empty CD into your computer's CD drive. Wait a moment for your computer to acknowledge the new disc.

    • 5

Locate the folder containing the scanned 110 mm images. Right-click the folder and select "Send to" from the drop-down menu.

    • 6

Click the icon that identifies the CD drive, then click "OK" to begin transferring your scanned negatives to the CD.
