How to Make Glamour Photos

Glamour photo shoots are all about creating alluring photos using proper modelling and lighting techniques. When someone books a glamour photo shoot, they are not looking for the same type of images they would get from a traditional professional photo shoot. Glamour photo shoots can take place inside a studio or can be shot outdoors. With this type of shoot, you can also take pictures in other conditions. Anything that will add to the glamorous feel of the photo shoot should be considered.

Instructions

    • 1

Determine a theme for the shoot. Whether you choose to do the shoot in a photo studio or pick a location like a beach or park, use your surroundings to further compliment the type of glamour shot you want to complete.

    • 2

Position the model in the scene that will accentuate the features the individual wants to highlight. When shooting glamour photography you want to create appealing lines for the viewer's eye to follow. The model should be posed at a 90 degree angle to the front of the lens, with their shoulders turned to create a long lean look.

    • 3

Turn the model's head so she is looking directly into the lens. With the models shoulders turned and having them looking directly into the lens, you can now start to dramatically light the scene.

    • 4

Position the key or main light at a 45 degree angle to the front of the model. This light should be elevated and angled down towards the model's face. Turn the light on, and set the power to full.

    • 5

Position your second light at a 45 degree angle on the opposite side of the model from your main light. This light can be the same height as the main light, or you can lower the light to create a more interesting profile. Turn the light on, but set the power to half.

    • 6

Position a back light, the third light on the same side as the key light, but behind the model. Angle the light towards the back and top of the model's head. This will create a bit of "ring" lighting that will accentuate the model's hair. Turn the light on, and set its power to half.

    • 7

Attach the "sync" cord to your camera, and begin shooting. Try different angles for your shooting position. You should also shoot different pictures with the model looking directly into the lens, and pictures where the model is looking in different directions.
