How to Correct Lens Distortion in CS3

Lens distortion appears in your pictures from time to time. Depending on the type of lens you are using and the aperture you are shooting with, the distortion may be more prevalent under some conditions. Lens distortion was difficult to correct when photos where shot on film. With the advent of digital photography, however, you can adjust the picture using a program like Adobe CS3 to remove distortion from the image.

Instructions

    • 1

Open the Adobe CS3 software. When the program launches, click "File" and select "Open" to open the picture you want to correct.

    • 2

Click "Filter" in the navigation bar and select "Distort" from the drop-down menu. This will generate another menu. Select "Lens correction." This opens a new window that contain the image you are working with a grid square laid on top of it.

    • 3

Click and hold the "Remove distortion" slider located on the top right side of the new window. As you adjust this slider, the image in the window will also adjust, allowing you to see the effect you are having on the picture.

    • 4

Click "OK" when you reach the amount of adjustment you want to apply to the picture. Adobe CS3 will now apply this adjustment to your picture.
