Turn on the Ricoh Caplio R7 so that the lens surface is exposed. Use the air blower or combination air blower and brush to blow loose dust off of the front lens element.
Use a fine brush or the combination air blower and brush to brush off the remaining particles of dust starting in the upper-left corner and swiping across to the right-hand corner. Wipe from the lower-left corner over to the right-hand corner to complete the initial brush-off.
Use the brush in the corners of the lens to free up any dirt swept into the corners during the initial brush-off. Hold the Caplio R7 so that the lens is facing down and brush the surface again. This will help prevent dust from settling on the lens after you brush it off.
Use the squeegee side of a lens pan to remove particles of grime or water spots after the brush work is complete.
Start from the center of the lens element and work your way toward the outer edges in a slow spiral motion. Do not put excessive pressure on the lens element.
Squeegee the lens from left to right, beginning in the upper-left corner. Hold the lens pen at a slant so you can use the edge of the squeegee to reach the corners.
Remove squeegee residue with the microfiber cloth. Wipe the lens gently with the lens facing down to prevent any dust contamination. Wipe until the lens is clear. Turn off the Ricoh Caplio R7. Turn the camera back on and check to see if any dust has settled on the front lens element. If there is more dust, repeat the cleaning process.
