How to Make Photos of Food Into Art

Photos can be used for a number of different things. They are used as part of presentations, in books, in calendars. They hang on walls as art, and in some cases they can be used to create an entirely different type of art. Photography and food have a long history. Any photographer who has ever studied still life photography has probably photographed a bowl of apples, grapes or some other fruit during the studies. While those pictures may be strong enough for art on their own, you can also create your own art using different pictures of food.

Instructions

    • 1

Photograph the different food you want to use in your art work. Set up a white sheet, or use a piece of white poster board. Place the fruit just in front, and take individuals pictures of each piece.

    • 2

Download the pictures to your computer, and make a print for each piece of fruit you have photographed.

    • 3

Use a sharp utility knife and cutting board, and cut out each piece of fruit from their individual pictures.

    • 4

Lay a piece of white card or colored card stock paper, and build a three dimensional piece of art by raising the individual pictures of fruit off of the page.

    • 5

Glue a small square of foam that are different depths to the back of each photo, then position the pictures on the card. When you are satisfied with the composition of the piece, add a small amount of glue to the other side of the foam, and glue it to the white or colored card stock you used for your base.

    • 6

Mount your completed photo food art collage into a small shadow box frame for display.
