How to Get Rid of Double Chin in Photos

The advent of digital technology has greatly changed the way we can edit pictures. Prior to digital images, intricate editing processes involved doctoring the negative or the final print to alter the image to our satisfaction. The challenge and risk was that you could damage or destroy the original image if you didn't perform the process correctly. Digital images give us an opportunity to make changes like removing a double chin, and if we are unsuccessful, we can start again. You can do this in a number of programs, including Adobe Photoshop and the free versions of it Paint.NET and GIMP.

Instructions

    • 1

Open the program you want to use on your home computer and open the photo that you need to edit.

    • 2

Press "CTRL" "ALT" and "0" at the same time to magnify the image to 100 percent. Press and hold "CTRL" and press the "-" key to reduce the image if it is too large.

    • 3

Click "Filter" and select "Liquefy" from the drop-down menu. Select the "Forward wrap" tool and adjust the size of brush to match the area you will be adjusting.

    • 4

Move the tool by moving your mouse to the area you want to adjust. Slowly move the brush closer to the chin line and you will see the picture start to alter. There will be a blurring in the area as you make the adjustment.

    • 5

Select the "Clone" tool from the left margin. Press and hold the "ALT" button on your keyboard to select a point you will be duplicating to clean up the blurry area left from removing the double chin.

    • 6

Change the "Opacity" of the tool to 30. Use your computer mouse to draw over the area and you will start to see the blurriness replaced by the section of the photo you selected.

    • 7

Select the "Smudge" tool from the left margin, change the strength of the tool to 20, and make downward strokes through the area you just cloned. This will blend the image and give it a more natural look.

    • 8

Click "File" and select "Save as." Give your photo a new name and save it to your picture folder.
