How to Make Great Slide Shows

Slide shows are way to display and share your pictures the way you want them to be shown. There are number of programs you can use to create a photo slide show, including Microsoft PowerPoint, Adobe Photoshop and the GIMP. The steps to creating a basic slide show in each of these programs are very similar. But to really make your slide show stand out and be great, you want to go past the basics and customize your slide show.

  Add music, sounds or narration to your slide show. All of these programs give you the ability to add sounds to your slide show. If your pictures are from a photo essay or documentary, you can add digital recordings of people from the essay into the slide show. You can also add music to your slide show and match the display length of images to the music you have added.

  Customize the color background of your slide show. In all of these programs, you can customize the background of your slide show by changing the color or adding graphics to the page. If you are creating a slide show for a company or volunteer organization you can customise the background to match their corporate colors or use their logo in the background. This is another way to set your slide show apart from the rest.

  Add video clips if you have them. While we associate slides shows with static images changing from one screen to the next, adding a video introduction or ending is a unique way to introduce the slide show to your audience or thank the individuals who were pictured in the slide show.
