How to Clean D70s

Cleaning your Nikon D70s will minimize the likelihood of dirt or dust winding up on the camera's sensor and your pictures, although you should not have to clean it often. The Nikon D70s was introduced by Nikon in 2005. It replaced the Nikon D70. The D70s uses the same sensor and image processing systems as the D70. The improvements to the camera were to the focusing system, the larger LCD (Liquid Crystal Display) screen and wider flash coverage for the built-in flash.

Instructions

    • 1

Hold the Nikon D70s in your hand. Use a dry microfiber cleaning cloth to remove any visible dirt or dust from the camera body.

    • 2

Hold the camera as if you are taking a picture, and carefully lift off the rubber eyepiece around the viewfinder. Dust often collects here. Use a cotton swab that is moistened with a lens cleaning solution, and clean the area around the viewfinder. Also clean the other tight corners of the Nikon D70s.

    • 3

Remove the lens by pressing the "Lens release" button on the front of the camera, and rotate the lens until it disconnects from the camera. Place a rear cap on the back of the lens to protect it, and set it aside.

    • 4

Use the microfiber cleaning cloth, and carefully clean the inside of the camera's shutter box. Do not use a blower brush or compressed air, as this will drive dirt and dust further into the camera.

    • 5

Turn the camera upside down, and look into the opening. You will see a translucent screen. This is where the images are reflected onto the viewfinder. Carefully clean this screen with the microfiber cleaning cloth.

    • 6

Replace the D70`s battery and memory card, turn the camera on and you are ready to start shooting again.
