How to Repair the Nikon LS-2000

Nikon has been producing professional camera equipment since the 1930s. As photography started to change from film to digital, the company responded by developing a line of scanners used by many professional and advanced amateur photographers. Released in 1998, the Nikon LS-2000 is a dedicated film scanner capable of producing full color scans at a resolution of 2700 dpi (dots per inch). The Nikon LS-2000 had optional film and slide feeders that would allow for faster processing.

Instructions

    • 1

Prepare a negative strip for scanning by cleaning it with an anti-static cloth. This type of cloth is designed to remove any dust or debris from the negative strip and will help minimize dust from collecting on the negative strip during the scanning process.

    • 2

Position the negative strip just inside the feeder. The feeder should automatically take the negative into the scanner to start the scan. If the feeder does not take the negative strip, turn off the scanner.

    • 3

Carefully remove the negative by firmly pulling on it, if the negative is not coming out of the feeder. Disconnect the feeder from the scanner by pressing the lock release button, and carefully lift the feeder off of the scanner.

    • 4

Clean the contacts the on the negative feeder and the scanner. Inspect the feed track of the scanner to make sure there is nothing blocking the path the negative strip travels on.

    • 5

Replace the feeder on the scanner, turn the scanner on and feed the negative strip again.
