How to Copy Photos on a Write Protected CD

A write protected CD is a disc that cannot be copied by normal methods. This means you cannot make a copy of the CD by using a simple CD copying utility. There are restrictions in place on that disc to prevent you from doing so. If you have photos on a CD and need to get them off that CD, you can put them on your computer. Copying them directly off the CD is still possible despite the CD being "write protected."

Instructions

    • 1

Click on "Start" and "Computer." Find your copy protected disc under the words "Devices with removable storage." Right-click on that disc and select "Explore."

    • 2

Find the pictures you want to copy, and highlight them by holding down the left mouse button and dragging the cursor over the picture icons or thumbnails. Then, when they&'re all highlighted, press "CTRL + C". Close the window displaying the contents of the CD.

    • 3

Locate an area on your computer&'s hard drive that you would like to copy the photos to. When you find that area (be it a folder, your Desktop, somewhere on your "C" drive, etc) right-click in an empty space within the location you want to copy those photos to.

Select "Paste" from the right-click menu. This will copy the photos off the CD and into the location you&'ve specified.
