Tips on the Nikon Coolpix P80

The Nikon Coolpix P80 is a digital point-and-shoot camera produced by NIkon USA. The camera allows the photographer to make manual adjustments, choose shooting scenes and make videos. Familiarize yourself with the different options this camera offers. Once this information is under your belt, begin to photograph family, friends and places with the Coolpix P80.
  1. Battery

    • Purchase an extra battery to use with the Coolpix P80. Each battery lasts for about 250 shots. For longer photography sessions, an extra battery comes in handy. When one runs out, put in the extra battery and charge the one you were just using.

    Video

    • Turn the mode selector dial to the icon of the video camera to shoot movies. The Nikon Coolpix P80 shoots movies in the .AVI file format with .WAV sound. Simply press the shutter release button to begin recording and then again to stop recording. Review the video in playback mode on the camera.

    Scene Modes

    • Choose automatic settings that fit the scene of the photograph. Turn the mode dial to "SCENE" and press the "Menu" button on the back of the camera. Scroll through the list of different scenes: portrait, landscape, night portrait, party/indoor, beach/snow, sunset, dusk/dawn, night landscape, close up, museum or fireworks. Choose the description that matches the location of the shoot most closely.
