How to Make a Photo Gallery in Flash 8

Creating a photo gallery allows family and friends to view the pictures when and where they wish. For professional photographers, online photo galleries are an integral part of their business. Once the shoot is done, clients want to see proofs from the shoot as soon as possible. In addition, galleries are a great way to display your portfolio for editors or other potential clients. Using Flash 8 to create you galleries gives photographers a number of options.

Instructions

    • 1

Open the Flash 8 program on your computer, click on "File" in the navigation bar, and select "New" to start a new gallery. When the page opens, click on "Flash document" and "OK" in the "Type" parameter in the new window.

    • 2

Click on "File" and select "Import," then "Import to menu" from the new window, then locate the folder containing your pictures and open the folder. If you are using all of the pictures, place your mouse pointer over one image and press "Ctrl" and "A" on your keyboard to select them all. Click "Open" in the bottom right of the window to open the pictures in the program.

    • 3

Design your page by dragging one of the images and placing it where your "Thumbnail" list will be. Thumbnails are the smaller pictures that appear beside the larger image being viewed.

    • 4

Drag the full-size image, the one that matches the thumbnail image, to the place you want full-size images to viewed on the page.

    • 5

Right-click the thumbnail you placed and select "Convert to Symbol" in the new menu. In the "Name" field, give the image a name, click on "Button," then click "Ok" to set the image.

    • 6

Right click on the new symbol you created in the previous step, and select "Actions," then insert "on(release){gotoAndPlay(2)} to create a button that can be clicked.

    • 7

Right click on the first image in the "Timeline" panel, select "Actions" and insert: "stop():" with no quotations. Right-click the second frame and type the same. Repeat this process for each thumbnail image you want to create in your gallery.

    • 8

Click "File," select "Save As," name your gallery, and you ready to post your website.
