How to Transfer a Photocopy

It's cool when you can to take an image you found on the Internet or in a magazine and transfer it to a T-shirt, door or even a window. This technique is known as photo transferring and is quite popular. Many small groups of individuals such as exercise walkers, gym partners and sports players use photo transfer to clothing to create a unified theme. Businesses transfer photos to wood and glass to catch the eyes of their customer.

Instructions

    • 1

Open the image editor and make sure the photo is reversed for photo transfer before printing. Flip the image horizontally or vertically so it looks backward --- as if you're viewing it from a mirror. Print the image with a high quality printer and use only toner-based prints. Toners are powders that are made out of carbon or synthetic polymers. Laser and LED printers are toner-based printers.

    • 2

Cut the excess paper away from the image. Set the image front side down on the object selected for the transfer. Soak the cotton pad with wintergreen oil -- it shouldn't drip --- and apply it to the back of the image. Wait for a few minutes as the oil dissolves the toner.

Scrub the back of the paper with the edge of the wooden plank or stick. Use gentle but firm pressure to transfer the image to the object. Carefully remove the paper and place it into a cup of water because the oil is extremely flammable.
