How to Stitch Nikon Coolpix

Nikon Coolpix is the name given to the company's line of compact digital cameras. The digital images they produce can be used to create stunning panoramic or 360 degree images by using free photo stitching programs such as AutoStitch, Pos Panoram Pro or Hugin. All three programs will perform the task automatically or allow you to customize the process.

  Shoot the pictures you will need to create your panoramic picture. From a stationary point, begin to photograph the landscape.

  Attach the Nikon Coolpix camera of your choosing to a tripod and begin at the far left side of your landscape. Select a point on the right-hand side of the image that you will use as your right margin.

  Take the picture.

  Compose your next picture by positioning the camera to the next point in the panoramic you are shooting. Repeat this process until the entire scene is photographed.

  Connect your Nikon Coolpix camera to your computer using a USB or Firewire cable and download the images to a folder on your computer.

  Download the free version of the photo stitching software you are using, and save it to your computer. Open the program. A selection window will open up with a number of parameters to alter. Set "JPEG quality" to 90 and "Scale" to at least 90 percent.

  Click on "File," then "Open," to locate and select the pictures you want to include in the panoramic image, and click "OK." The images will open in the program, and it will begin to create your panoramic image.

  Once completed, click "File," then "Save as." Give your new image a name and save it to the folder of your choosing.
