How to Edit People Out of Pictures

Open your digital picture in the photo-editing program of your choice, such as Adobe Photoshop. Click the "Save as" option once the photo is open. Saving a new version of the picture means you won't change the original picture and can refer back to it in the future or use it to start all over again should the need arise.

Cut a person out of the picture using the "Crop" tool to reduce the scope of the picture to a portion that does not contain the person. Place the tool on the picture, such as on the top left corner of the picture, and hold it there until the "Crop" icon appears.

Drag the cursor across the screen until you have established the area of the picture you wish to preserve. Click "Enter," or right-click the mouse and select "Crop." The unwanted portion of the picture will be eliminated, leaving behind the portion of the picture you wanted to keep.

Use the "Clone" tool to cover over a portion of the image, if cropping is not an option. The tool looks like a rubber stamp and can be used to cover just the image of the person you want to eliminate.

Select the size and type of brush. By pressing the "Window" and "Alt" keys together, select an area of the picture you wish to copy over the individual you wish to remove from the picture. The "Clone" tool will select this area to copy and replicate on top of the image of the person.

Move your mouse over the area you want the "Clone" tool to copy over. Continue to move the mouse over the image of the person you want to remove from the picture until it is no longer visible and has been replaced by the image you copied from.
