How to Use the Beseler Printmaker 35

The Beseler Printmaker 35 is 35mm black-and-white enlarger that is capable of printing from negatives up to 6 centimeters by 7 centimeters. Manufactured in the United States, the enlarger is fairly compact in size, which makes it an ideal choice for smaller or hobby darkrooms. The enlarger comes with a base large enough to print up to 11-inch by 14-inch prints. Larger prints can be also be printed by reversing the column and projecting the image onto the floor, according to the photography retailer Adorama.com.

      Insert a 35mm black-and-white negative into the carrier tray and place the carrier tray in the enlarger in the slot above the lens and below the condenser head.

      Adjust the lens aperture to f5.6 by adjusting the aperture ring located on the enlarger's lens.

      Turn on the enlarger to view the negative on the platen below. Adjust the size of the image by raising or lowering the enlarger using the top crank lever on the left side of the enlarger.

      Place a photo easel on the enlarger's base and focus the negative by adjusting the knob on the left-hand side of the enlarger. Ensure you have a properly focused images by using a grain focuser.

      Set the timer on the enlarger control panel to match the best exposure from your test strip.

      Place a sheet of photo paper into the easel, and press start on the enlarger's control panel. When the exposure is complete, process the photographic paper through the proper chemical baths.
