How to Upload Photos From a Secure Digital Memory Card

In digital photography there is no film in the camera to record the images you take. Digital cameras save the images they take to a storage card, memory stick, or a secure digital memory card. Once you are done shooting for the day, or the card is full, you can download those images to your computer, freeing up the card to take pictures again. Uploading these pictures is fairly easy.

Instructions

Turn off your camera and remove the secure digital memory card. If you computer is a new model, it may have a build in card reader designed for your card. If not, you can use a card reader that connects to your computer via a USB cable.

Insert the memory card into the computer or the card reader and wait for the computer to recognise that there is a memory card attached to it.

    • 3

Create a folder on your computer's hard drive, where you want to upload your photos. Once the memory card has connected to the computer, and the computer has opened the memory card folder revealing the images saved to it, select the first image. Hold the control key down strike the letter "A." This will select all the images contained on the card. Right click the highlighted images and drag them to the new folder, where they will be copied to your computer.

Replace the memory card into your camera, and format the card through the camera menu. Formatting the card erases the images you just uploaded to your computer, allowing you to use the card again with its full storage capabilities.
