Instructions

Choose a theme. It can be from one occasion, such as your child's birthday party; a time period, such as summer; or a series of similar occasions, such as barbecues. There's really no wrong theme, as long as all the photographs represent your memories.

Choosing the right photos is an important part of the collage.

Pick your photos. Lay out all the candidates for your collage. Narrow it down to the best pictures that will fill the page without overcrowding. If you are using digital photos, be sure to print them all out ahead of time.

    • 3

Crop your pictures. If you have a picture of a wide landscape, for example, and your main focus is on the people in the foreground, cut them from the background. Use a craft knife to cut your shapes freehand or with stencils. You may also use craft scissors to create decorative edges.

    • 4

Using the double-sided tape, attach your photographs to the posterboard or decorative paper. You may tape them on at angles, with some overlapping others to add interest. Or attach them square with the edges of the posterboard, leaving plenty of space between pictures. Make sure to leave room on the board for decorations, especially at the top.

Write your header. Using your markers and stencils or even letter stickers, write a title for your collage such as "Beach Days" or "Tim's Graduation." Use your ruler to make sure the title is centered.

    • 6

Decorate using stickers, ribbons, markers and other supplies to make the page your own. Add decorations around the header, between photos and near the edges.
