Flickr
Create your account. If you already have a valid Yahoo! ID you already have an account for Flickr. If not, create an account and, if desired, personalize your profile.
Choose your photos. On the upper right of the screen (beside the blue "How to get started" box) find and click the link "Upload Photos & Video." A link will appear near the top of the screen that reads "Choose photos and videos." Selecting this link will open a browser window. Here, select the pictures you want to upload. Once you have selected the pictures, you will be given the option to select your privacy settings. A link that reads "Show more upload settings" will give options to set your safety level and content type, and whether to hide items from public search.
Press the button to upload the photos.
Describe your photos. A green check mark will appear indicating that the files have been successfully uploaded. Click the link beside it that reads "Add a description." This link will take you to a screen where you can give picture titles and descriptions, add tags and apply the photos to sets.
Facebook
Create an account.
Create an album and upload photos. On the left side of the screen is a button that reads "Photos." Clicking it will open a screen that shows pictures recently uploaded by your friends (if it is not a new account). On top of the screen you will see side-by-side gray buttons that read "Upload Photos" and "Upload Videos"--select "Upload Photos." The next screen will prompt you to create an album title and, if you choose, add description and location. Also, you will be able to decide who will be able to view your new album. Press "Create Album" and then on the next screen, "Select Photos." This will open a finder window. Select your photos, then click "Upload Photos."
Add tags and descriptions and publish. Here you can tag your friends if they are in the pictures and add captions. You can also choose which picture will act as the album cover. When you are satisfied, click "Publish Now," located at the top of the screen.
