How to Date Photos to Be in Chronological Order

Organizing your photos in a chronological manner is an easy way to sort through them. Once you have organized the photos into a system that organized by date, you can easily order and store each new batch of photos in the same manner.

Instructions

    • 1

      Sort your photographs by the year they were taken. If they do not have a date printed, estimate by what's in the picture.

      Write the year on each photo. Place photos in piles organized by year.

      Break it down further by organizing the photos by the month in which they were taken. Write this on the back.

      Take any notes that may be important and write them on the back. Use an archival safe pen.

      Keep each month in a separate envelope, box or album.
