Standard Photo Effects
Black-and-white, sepia, the adding of vignettes or mattes or boosting the color are but a few of the standard photo effects available to photography artists.
Focus Effects
There are options available to change the focus of the photo. Beyond softening and sharpening of the photo, artists can manipulate the picture to sharpen one object while creatively blurring the remainder of the photo.
Finish Effects
Software programs online, such as Picnik (see Resources), allow photographers to apply a variety of finishes to their photos. Cinema, for example, gives the picture the same grainy, wide screen appearance that one would see at a movie theater.
Embellishments
In addition to changing the colors and softness of the photo, photo editors are able to add items such as stickers or wording to the photo.
Custom Photo Effects
For the photo artist who is looking to add a finish that is unique, changing the red, green and blue (RGB) levels in the picture is an option. One possible outcome of this effect is providing the photo with the appearance that it was developed in the 1960s.
Medium Effects
Changing the appearance of the medium used to make the picture is another available photo effect. Artists can give the photo the appearance of being a watercolor painting, pencil sketch, stained glass window or cartoon.
