Instructions
Remove the cover from the camera body and prepare your lens for insertion. The D60 is sold with a stock 18-55mm zoom lens. To insert the lens, align the white dot on the lens with the white dot near the metal ring on the front of the camera body. Insert the lens and twist counterclockwise until the lens is secured.
Insert an SD memory card into the camera by opening the memory-card door on the side of the camera body, exposing the card slot. Insert the SD card until it clicks, then close the door.
Turn on the camera and select a shooting mode. The Nikon D60 offers fully automatic, semi-automatic and fully manual modes. The modes are selected by using the dial on the top of the camera body. Automatic modes have a picture icon, while the manual and semi-automatic modes are denoted by the letters M for manual, A for aperture priority, S for shutter priority, and P for program.
Compose your image and look through the viewfinder to view the meter if you are using a semi-automatic or manual mode. (The Nikon D60 does not have a live LCD display for composing your image.) If you are using an automatic mode, press the shutter button to take a picture. If flash is needed, the flash on the top of the unit will pop up.
Select shutter speed and F-stop, if necessary. Turn the dial on the upper right side of the camera body to select shutter speed. Select the aperture by holding the +/- button on the top of the camera and turning the same dial. Aperture selections might be limited by the lens. Press the shutter button to take a picture.
