How to Restore Damaged Photographs

Restoring your damaged photographs takes patience and time. Spotting them takes a lot of work and it's best to practice on a photograph that isn't needed. Damaged photographs can also be scanned and restored with Photoshop or any other photo restoration software. Spotting in a photo software program is a lot easier and mistakes can be changed instantly.

  1. Photograph Restoration

      Connect a scanner to the computer/laptop. Clean the scanner glass before placing the photograph on it. This prevents from dust being scanned with the photo.

      Place photograph face down on the scanner. Be sure the photograph is place in the indicators to get a correct scan.

      In the computer/laptop open up Photoshop or any other photo editing software. Make spotting adjustments as needed.

      Adjust the color as needed in the photo editing software. Color shifting is possible to correct and any mistakes can be fixed accordingly.

      Make any other adjustments needed. Save the photograph as either a JPEG or TIFF file. TIFF keeps the quality of the image. While JPEG compresses the image so that it can be published on the web.
