How to Fix Grainy Photos

Grainy photographs can be a big disappointment when they are printed, especially if they are photographs that can̵7;t be replaced or retaken. Additionally, if a photograph is very grainy, it cannot be enlarged.

Instructions

  Install the Neat Image plugin from the website www.neatimage.com/download.html.

  Restart Photoshop after you install the plugin.

  Go to ̶0;Filter,̶1; and click ̶0;Neat Image.̶1; Select the ̶0;Noise Filter Settings̶1; tab. Go to ̶0;Recent Preset̶1; and choose ̶0;Advanced,̶1; then ̶0;Remove only half of weaker noise.̶1; This activates the Neat Image plugin and creates a new layer.

  Go to ̶0;Filter̶1; and choose ̶0;Smart Blur.̶1; Type ̶0;0.6̶1; in the ̶0;Radius̶1; box, and ̶0;8.6̶1; in the ̶0;Threshold̶1; box. Choose ̶0;High Quality̶1; and ̶0;Normal Mode.̶1; This creates a photograph with minimal noise and grain.
