How to Make a Picture Look Like a Photo Booth Picture

Choose four vertically composed portraits filled with great facial expressions. The images you choose will have to look very good when they are combined. The key to making the photo booth strip look authentic is to use indoor shots taken with a flash in front of a simple background.

Open Photoshop and create a new image. Make sure the color mode is set to grayscale and make the image̵7;s size 8 inches high and 1.5 inches wide with a resolution of 300 dots per inch (DPI).

Select "View," "Show Rulers," and drag three guidelines down to space them every two inches apart. Guidelines should be placed at the 2-, 4- and 6-inch mark.

Open your portraits and resize all four by selecting "Image," "Image Size" and entering 1.75 inches for the width. Make sure the height of the images to be placed is greater than 2 inches to prevent empty spaces from being visible between the images.

With your resized images visible, use the "Move" tool to drag and drop each of your portraits into your newly created document. Start at the top of your photo strip and work your way down, adding photos until all four are in place.

Add the left side of the photo booth strip border by creating a new layer on top of the pictures you added to the photo strip. Use the "Rectangular Marquee" tool to select a narrow vertical selection. Begin drawing your selection at the top left side of the photo strip and dragging this selection down to the bottom left side. This selection should be about an eighth of an inch wide. When you are finished making this selection, fill it with black.

Repeat step six to add a vertical photo border to the right side of your photo booth strip. Make this selection slightly more narrow than the one created for the left side. Be sure to fill this second selection with black, too. This selection should be less than an eighth of an inch wide.

To make sure your photo strip looks like an authentic 1960 photo booth picture, add an adjustment layer to increase or decrease the contrast. Images from a photo booth will either appear to all be very high contrast or somewhat flat; consequently, how you employ this step will be a creative choice on your part.

Name and save your photo booth picture strip.

Print the photo booth strip, cut individual pictures out with scissors or leave them intact as one long strip of pictures.
