How to Make a Custom Photo Book

A custom photo book can showcase your favorite photographs. You can choose to create your book with a certain theme, or just include a random assortment of photos. Photo books come in various shapes and sizes, from 3"x3" softcover books to elegant 8"x10" or larger hardbound versions. You can customize your layout and add captions to each page to personalize your book.

  Choose a website where you can create your photo book. Almost every photo-sharing website offers this service. Check out reviews that compare several sites side-by-side to make your decision (see Resources).

  Create an account on the site that you wish to use.

  Use the image-uploading tool on the website to add the images to your online album. The best images to use are those taken at a high resolution; low-resolution images, such as cell-phone pictures, may appear grainy or blurry when printed.

  Select the type and size of photo book you want to create. Smaller photo books with fewer pages and a soft cover are the least expensive while larger, hardcover versions are more expensive.

  Choose a theme for your photo book. Most sites have multiple themes for you to choose from, from simple color schemes to event-specific layouts to enhance your holiday, sports or vacation photographs.

  Add the photos from your online album to your photo book, arranging them in the order that you prefer. Add captions if you want.

  Preview your photo book to make sure it looks the way you want it to look. When you are satisfied with it, place your order. Most sites deliver directly to your home but with some sites, like Walmart.com or CVS.com, you can choose to pick up your photo book from your local store.
