How to Decorate Clipboards

If you work in an office setting, you know how dull the decor can sometimes be. Everything around you is an antiseptic white and utilitarian, and the fluorescent lights only make it worse. One way to fight this is to add a bit of defiant color to break up the monotony. A good start is to transform those plain clipboards you use into something snazzier. Of couse, the degree to which you can do any of this will be determined by how your employer feels about it.

Instructions

    • 1

Tape over the clip part of your clipboard to protect it. Hang the clipboard outside on a clothesline so that only the metal clip touches the line (e.g., threading the line through the holes in the clip), and spray it with a good acrylic paint to change the board's color. You can use more than one color to achieve a mottled effect. Let it dry and remove the tape.

Take some stickers (in good taste) and stick them wherever you want on the back of the clipboard. Don't put them on the front, since they might interfere with writing. Try to avoid organizing them, since that's just what you are trying to get away from.

Run little jewelry chains though the clipboard's hook, and hang decorative bangles, beads and charms on them. You could also put some reflective strips on the clip, out of the way of the hole.
