Do-It-Yourself Comic Books

Many people read comics, but creating your own comic is an intimidating step up. The credits of your typical comic book attribute dozens of people for its creation: from artist to inker to writer. Beginning a comic book, however, only needs one person with a lot of ambition, creativity and time on his hands. If you think you have what it takes to make your own comic book, then get ready to start picking those ideas circulating in your head.

Instructions

    • 1

Write a short description of your character's personality and background relevant to how it may affect her dress or demeanor.

    • 2

Draw your characters. Give your hero a distinctive look to distinguish him from the other characters in your comic. This is because comics tend to have a lot going on within their frames, and if the hero needs to be easily identified to avoid confusing the reader. Experiment with drawing characters in a variety of ways and from different perspectives before settling on a final drawing.

    • 3

Write the dialogue for each scene in your comic. You can do the dialogue as you go along, or draw the entire comic according to your storyline and add the dialogue after.
