Select a balloon the desired length and color. Use the air pump to inflate it, leaving a four inch, un-inflated tail. This will allow room for expansion as the balloon is shaped. Tie off the other end. Take a moment to consider the points where your chosen letter will have intersections. You will be working toward these points and twisting accordingly. Think of a simple letter like "D" as an example.

    • 2

Begin by twisting a bubble one inch from the tied off end. Lock it off, then place another twist about 13 inches down the balloon. Make another twist one inch away, working toward the flat tail. Lock this bubble in place. Make another twist four inches closer to the tail.

    • 3

Bend the balloon carefully so that the first bubble connects with the twist you just made. Lock them together. The balloon should look like a letter "D" with a bit more balloon sticking off the end. Cut off the last portion that is sticking off and tie off the end. Make the whole alphabet using this twisting technique, taking into consideration the different joints and slanted points in each letter that connect together.
