Instructions
Go through your bookshelves or e-reader. Write down the names of different authors, subjects or titles that you've enjoyed. Also write down any authors, subjects or titles that you've been meaning to explore, but haven't gotten around to yet.
Visit your local library or bookstore. Go over your list of names, titles and areas of interest with the staff, and ask for recommendations.
Visit a book-buying website. Type in the names, titles and subjects on your list on the site's search engine. Write down any books that are recommended based on the info you submitted.
Make sure that your "silent reading" is truly silent, if that's what you need to enjoy your book. Pick a place where, and a time of day when, you won't be easily disturbed; a public park on a weekday, a quiet cafe, or even a library or bookstore (the latter two are perfect places for reading) are good choices. Ask people that you live with (if you're reading at home) not to disturb you during your reading time.
