Address the recipient of the note, for example, write: Dear Sue.
Thank them in the first sentence. Be specific; name exactly what they gave you or did for you. For example, if you're thanking someone for the outfit they gave to you at your baby shower, say, "Thank you for the blue jeans and pink shirt you gave to me at my baby shower."
Compliment the gift or act. Tell the person what you liked about the gift, and tell them when and/or how you plan to use it. For example, say, "I love the shorts; they are adorable, and I can't wait for her to wear the outfit at our summer picnic."
Close the note. You can close the note by showing your gratitude again, but rewrite the statement so it sounds slightly different the second time. Then, end the note with a warm closing and sign your name. Popular closings are "Warm regards," "Love" and "Yours truly."
