Using Lulu.com
Visit lulu.com. Spend a moment reviewing the website to learn more about the company. When ready, locate the tabs at the top of the web page. Select the "Publish" tab. Read the information on the page to see what your options are. Select the type of book you are creating from the list of options.
Select whether you would like the book to be private and viewed only by you, public and available for sale within the lulu.com website or whether you would like to have the book public and create an ISBN so you can sell the book on sites such as Amazon.com.
Follow the steps to create your book. You will be guided through the process to select various options such as the size of your book, the quality of paper and the stitching. Review the guidelines carefully to ensure your book is created to the site's specifications. During the process, you will be asked to enter the title of your book and to upload the contents of the book in a .pdf file. At any point in the process, you access help on each step by clicking "View instructions and info about this step." This link is located in the upper right corner of the screen below the orange bar.
Review the information you have entered carefully. Lulu.com staff will review your submission to ensure your upload meets the minimum requirement and email you if they find any errors. You are, however, responsible for following the proper formats, as shown to you during the process, for your type and size of book.
Check your email during the next 24 hours for an email from Lulu.com. The email will alert you to any errors found on the review and provide you with a link to review the book and finalize the ordering process. Once your book is approved, it will remain in your account, and you can return to the site in the future to order as many books as needed.
Blurb.com
Visit blurb.com. Review the site to see whether it will meet your needs. Download the "Blurb Booksmart" tool used to input your book material. Register by entering your email, user name and password. Once you have registered, the "Blurb Booksmart" tool will open in a new screen.
Follow the prompts and instructions for each step to prepare your book for publishing. Select the size, cover, stitching and other options for your book.
Upload the book cover and book contents per the specifications listed. The publishing tool will display the specifications based on the size and type of book you selected. Review the preview to see whether the material appears to fit properly.
Submit the book, and the site's staff will review your submission. While the staff will try to catch any obvious errors such as content appearing beyond borders or photos of poor quality, you ultimately are responsible for uploading the book material to the listed specifications.
Wait for an email from the blurb.com staff. The email will advise you of any obvious errors found or clear the book for printing. Order the number of books you desire.
