How to Read Through the Bible Two Times Per Year

Reading the Bible may help Christians understand their religion and solidify their beliefs. For non-Christians, it may help provide a greater understanding of the religious beliefs that more than 77 percent of U.S. residents, according to the CIA's World Factbook, hold, as of 2007. Reading through the Bible twice in a year is challenging, but good planning and motivation may leave weeks to spare.

Instructions

    • 1

Pick start dates for when you will begin reading the Bible. Schedule at least 24 weeks for each reading session to ensure you have enough time to finish.

    • 2

Plan how you will read the Bible. There are 66 books in the Protestant Bible and 73 books in the Catholic Bible. Reading three Bible books a week will allow you to finish reading the Protestant Bible in 22 weeks or the Catholic Bible in a little more than 24 weeks.

    • 3

Mark your calendar with important reading milestones to keep yourself on track. For example, you should reach the New Testament by week 14 if you're reading the Protestant version of the Bible. Write the date down and work toward it. Also mark the days on which you should complete reading the Bible.

    • 4

Begin reading the Bible on your start date and stick to your weekly goals until you reach the end.

    • 5

Give yourself a break after reading through the Bible the first time. Begin reading it again on your next start date.
