Book Clubs for Kids in Canada

Kids in Canada can join book clubs online to learn about new books and to interact with other kids who love to read. Likewise, teachers and parents can join book clubs aimed at providing books and other reading materials for children in schools and at home. Joining a book club is usually free, but others need you to purchase books before your child becomes a member. Nevertheless, enrolling your kids in a book club will encourage them to learn and to develop a love for reading.
  1. Bopl's Book Club

    • Bopl's Book Club is an online book club for kids aged 6 to 12. It's a place where kids who love books can read, play, write and have fun. Kids can read book reviews by other kids and leave their comments. Kids can also create their own book reviews, create and play word games and join other kids' book clubs. Kids start off at a certain level represented by an animal, and the more active they are, the higher their level becomes. Every child who registers gets her own book club and a personal home page. A book club can have an unlimited amount of members. To join, children need to have a valid juvenile library card from the Ottawa Public Library.

    Scholastic Book Club

    • Scholastic Book Clubs are school-based clubs that allow schools and parents to easily purchase children's books and software at low prices. Whenever teachers order from the club, they earn bonus coupons and free picks, which may be used to get free teaching materials and classroom resources. The six Scholastic Book Clubs for kids are divided into different reading levels. Elf is for preschool kids, SeeSaw is for grades K to 1, Lucky is for grades 2 to 3, Arrow is for grades 4 to 8, TRC is for grades 7 and up. The book clubs, Specials and Club de Lecture, are for students in preschool to grade 8. Specials has special book offers throughout the year, and Club de Lecture is the book club for French speakers.

    DoubleDay: Children's Book-of-the-Month Club

    • The books from the DoubleDay Children's Book-of-the-Month Club are evaluated by editors to ensure that you find only the best books available. The book club provides suggested age recommendations, highlight award winners and offers reissues of the classics. As a member, you receive a free club catalog about every three weeks. You also receive two special issues with special selections and other discounts exclusively for members. As a member, you can order other books online, receive special promotions and discounts, read profiles of your favorite authors and read excerpts from the latest books.
