Things You'll Need
Instructions
Use your fingers to gently straighten out the snag by pulling and pushing the rest of the lace around the snagged spot. If you can straighten out the snag enough, it will blend back in with the lace. Pull and push the lace in the direction that puts the snagged thread back in line. If the lace is so fine that your fingers can't effectively put the snag back into place, use a sewing needle.
Paint a small drop of clear nail polish over the impacted area of the lace. Clear nail polish acts as a glue, which can keep the lace in place and prevent it from unraveling further. This is especially useful if the lace snag is so severe that it cut the thread into two. If this is the case, put the two ends together and apply the nail polish over them. Hold it in place to let the nail polish dry.
Weave the snagged area back together using a pair of knitting needles. Thread the knitting needle with loose stitches from the damage. Weave the needles in and out of the lace using a yarn over, which is effective for maintaining the holes in the fabric that are common with lace.
Cover the snag with an applique, such as a ribbon or decorative button. Apply hot glue to the back of the applique and set it on top of the snagged area. Hold it in place while the hot glue affixes to the lace.
