Troubleshooting the Brother EX-660 E4

The Brother EX-660 sewing machine is ideal for beginners because of its small size, durability and LCD-computerized panel. It comes with a built-in table and two pedals and it can also be used for quilting and embroidering. When the sewing machine stops working or gets stuck, error messages appear on the screen to assist the user with assessing the problem. A common error message on the Brother EX-660 is the "E4" message.

  Read the LCD screen carefully to be sure that the E4 error message is the only error appearing on the screen.

  Check to see if the bobbin shaft winder is moved to the right. Move the bobbin shaft winder back to the left. This is the correct position for the bobbin shaft winder.

  Press the reverse/reinforcement stitch or needle position button while the bobbin shaft winder is in the correct position to the left. Continue with the sewing project.

  Check the LCD screen to make sure the error message disappears. Listen for beeps, which sound if an error occurs.
