Things You'll Need
Instructions
Measure the length between your left shoulder and the middle of your left calf with a measuring tape. Measure the width of your shoulders with a measuring tape. Add 1/2 an inch to each of these measurements for seam allowance and write the final figure down on a piece of paper.
Lay the fabric on a flat surface in front of you. Measure and draw a rectangular shape with the width and length measurements you just calculated on the fabric with your ruler and fabric chalk.
Cut the rectangle shape out with your sewing scissors.
Fold 1/4 of an inch of fabric over on each of the four sides of the rectangle and pin into place with sewing pins.
Sew around the rectangle with your sewing machine. Sew slowly and remove the pins as you go.
Measure and cut two ten-inch pieces of ribbon. Lay your cape wrong side up with the short side running horizontally. Pin the end of one piece of ribbon to the top corner of the long, left hand edge of the cape. Pin one end of the other piece of ribbon to the very top of the long, right hand edge of the cape. Both pieces of ribbon should be protruding outward from the cape.
Sew the ribbon to the cape with your sewing machine.
