Things You'll Need
Instructions
Choose a sleeveless top and shorts of matching or similar color, made of a stretchy fabric. Put the top on and mark it 1 to 2 inches above the navel for women or girls. Take the top off and cut it off on the marked line. Turn the cut edge under one half-inch and hem. Sew a line of gold trim along the bottom edge, neckline and arm holes of the top.
Add a line of gold trim around the waist of the shorts.
Match the color of the shorts and top set with organza fabric. Measure from the bottom edge of the shorts to the ankle of the wearer, add 4 inches and cut two lengths of organza to this measurement. Do not reduce the width of the fabric.
Sew together the side edges of one length of the organza and then the other to form two tube shapes. Sew a thread around the top perimeter of each organza tube, using a loose stitch. On one of the organza tubes, pull the thread slowly to gather the organza until the tube opening matches the size of the leg opening of the shorts. Turn the shorts inside out and sew the gathered edge of the organza tube to one of the leg openings of the shorts. Gather the other organza tube in the same manner as the first and sew the gathered edge to the remaining leg opening of the shorts.
Fold over one-half inch of organza at the bottom of both legs and sew to make a channel through which to thread elastic. Fold it toward the wrong side of the fabric and sew it. Cut two pieces of elastic long enough to fit around the wearer's ankle. Attach a large safety pin to the end of one length of elastic and use the pin to thread the elastic through the folded channel, gathering the organza as you go. Sew the two ends of the elastic together. Repeat with the other leg. Turn the shorts and attached organza right-side out.
Accessorize by sewing a one-quarter-inch hem around all four sides of a one-yard length of organza to make a veil. Pin the veil to your hair with bobby pins. Spray a pair of simple sandals with gold spray paint.
