Instructions

    • 1

Measure a piece of elastic to fit the waist of the tutu's wearer. Subtract 1 inch from the actual measurement to allow the elastic to stretch.

    • 2

Cut an equal number of strips of tulle and lace. The strips should each be approximately twice as long as the desired tutu length. Alternate slightly longer and shorter pieces of lace and tulle or use the same length of each, depending on whether you want the tutu hem to be jagged or even.

    • 3

Knot a piece of tulle around the center of the elastic, tying the knot in the center of the tulle. Tie a strip of lace next to the piece of tulle. The lace must lie on top of the tulle.

    • 4

Continue tying alternating strips of lace and tulle along the elastic until there is only a half inch of elastic remaining at each end. Keep the lace strips on top of the tulle.

    • 5

Sew the ends of the elastic together. Knot tulle and lace over the sewn elastic to cover.
