Reversible Costume Ideas

You might want a reversible costume at a party where unwanted attention might necessitate the need to change your appearance so you didn't have to leave the event. A reversible costume could help you show someone you had two sides to your personality. Another reason to don an outfit that could be turned into another look quickly is edging out the competition in a costume contest.

Good Cop, Bad Guy
- Mix up the "Good Cop, Bad Cop" routine with a Halloween costume that is white with black stripes on one side -- and an inmate name and number, but all blue pants and shirt on the other, with a badge and number. If your party is someplace where cop uniforms include other colors and trims, you can add those details to your cop outfit for more authenticity. Your good cop, bad guy routine outfit should include handcuffs (hanging from the cop's belt, but worn on the crook's wrists). Liven up the party by issuing bad costume tickets to guests as the cop and snitch refreshment items from others' plates as the crook, but don't carry an imitation gun. One Halloween party goer died after pulling such a weapon on a real officer at such a party.
Nurse, Maid
- A white short-sleeved top paired with a knee-length white skirt (both lined in black) serves duo purpose as a reversible nurse, maid costume. Arrive in the white nurse outfit, replete with a stethoscope hanging around your neck, mingling and checking the heartbeat of other guests and later reverse your costume, exchanging the stethoscope for a feather duster. You can appear to be hired help cleaning up the party mess for the same folks you treated minutes earlier.
Cloaked Costumes
- If you are one of the people who follow the vampire craze you can let your reversible cloak be your costume. It is likely to be a chilly night anyway if you are attending an October party or making the trick-or-treat rounds, so a cloak that is part of your costume helps you to be warm without blowing your cover, so to speak. Make one side red and the other black and choose a shiny silky material to add some glamor to the scary prop.
Work and Sleep
- Let flannel do double duty for you with a reversible costume. The material can be red ans black to be worn as a female construction worker on one side and pastel pink and blue on the other as a sleeping damsel. Turn your outfit inside out, with your pink flannel lined with denim material, and swap your house slippers for a pair of construction boots (while donning a hardhat) and you can be the girl at the work site in a jiff.
