Threading an Elna Sewing Machine

Before you can sew your first project, you must know how to properly thread your sewing machine. Threading the machine correctly is important because the machine cannot sew without having proper tension on the thread. Elna sewing machines thread in a similar manner to most modern sewing machines, and many people who are familiar with threading a sewing machine will be able to correctly thread Elna machines on their first attempts.

Instructions

  Turn the flywheel toward you to raise the needle to its highest position.

  Hold the spool in place on the spindle horizontally, with the slot in the spool pointing toward the right. Slide the spool to the left until it clicks into place.

  Feed the thread through the wire guide beside the spool.

  Wrap the thread from the guide down through the tension disc on the right hand side and up through the tension disc on the left.

  Look into the machine at the left tension disc. Feed the thread from the right to the left through the loop on the the thread take-up assembly.

  Feed the thread back down, and through the two remaining guides.

  Push the end of the thread from the back of the needle through the eye to the front.

  Turn the flywheel with your hand until the upper thread reaches down and lifts the bobbin thread.
