How to Change the Presser Foot on a Singer Simple Sewing Machine

Singer's 3116 Simple sewing machine is a basic model that is well suited for beginners. If you are new to sewing you may not know the correct procedure to replace different parts of the machine like the presser foot. Even if you have lost your owner's manual, you can change out the presser foot if you know the parts of your sewing machine. The Singer Simple uses a snap-on presser foot design which is the easiest type of presser foot to change on a sewing machine.

  Locate the hand wheel on the right side of your Singer Simple sewing machine. Turn the wheel towards you until the needle sits at its highest position.

  Lift the presser foot lever. The lever is located above the presser foot behind the needle.

  Position your fingers underneath the presser foot on the front side of the machine. Push the "toe" end of presser foot straight up until the presser foot pin comes free from the shank.

  Set the presser foot aside. Position the replacement presser foot pin directly below the center of the shank.

  Lower the presser foot lever and align the shank with the pin on the presser foot.

  Push the presser foot pin into the bottom of the shank.
